RECAP: USAA NFL Boot Camp
On Wednesday, August 2nd, the Redskins and USAA hosted the 2017 NFL Boot Camp in Richmond, VA. 50 military members participated in drills such as a 40 yard dash, a gauntlet challenge, vertical jump, pass & catch drill and L-cone drill. They were cheered on by other active duty members who were on-site to take in the games.
After the participants went through their drills, they enjoyed breakfast from the VIP tent at Redskins Training Camp. They had a great view of walkthrough and were able to get autographs from Redskins players and personnel at the end of the sessions.
“It is our honor to host service members at the ‘USAA NFL Boot Camp’ with the Washington Redskins and create a unique and memorable experience through our roles as the Official Military Sponsor of the NFL and the Washington Redskins” said Joel Vargas, a USAA Military affairs representative for the greater Washington D.C. area, “Not only did these service members have a chance to watch practice and meet the Redskins’ players, but they had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete on the same field and in some of the same drills as these NFL players. Bringing these service members closer to the game they love is one way USAA and the Redskins can say thank you for their service and sacrifice.”
Thank you to those who participated. We look forward to seeing you at our next event!
