Salute to Service Moment :: Redskins vs. Broncos
On Sunday, December 24, the Washington Redskins honored TSGT Mhiretie and Captain Rodgers during the game.
Technical Sergeant Getahun Simegnew Mhiretie, a medical administrative technician is current stationed at Joint Base Andrews. He was born and raised in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia. He moved to the US in 2003 after winning a Diversity Visa lottery program. The DV lottery program grants automatic permanent resident card to the winners after a year long processing time. He enlisted in the US Air Force in May of 2004. He is married to his high school class mate, Birtukan Sineshaw Kassa and have two daughters, Gelila (8) and Saba (9). Getchun has served the country in Buckley SFB, Peterson AFB, Osan AB Korea, Ramstein Germany and Joint Base Andrews.
Captain Lauren Rodgers serves as the Medical Logistics and Readiness Flight Commander, 11th Medical Squadron, Join Base Anacodstia-Bolling, District of Columbia. She manages the squadron's medical readiness program to include planning, emergency mangement, training and is chairman of the medical readiness committee. Capt Rodgers prepares the medical facility to provide or arrange for care of casualties from wartime and peacetime disasters or assaults.
